Hello, tonsillitis is common during childhood till age of 5-6 years. It is rather a filtering officer sitting in our throat. . They are part of your body's infection-fighting system to keep you from getting sick.
Recommendations for tonsill removal are
1. recurrent throat infection with a frequency of at least 7 episodes in the past year or at least 5 episodes per year for 2 years or at least 3 episodes per year for 3 years with documentation in the medical record for each episode of sore throat and 1 or more of the following: temperature >38.3°C, cervical adenopathy, tonsillar exudate, or positive test for group A β-hemolytic streptococcus.
Or child
2.severe obstructive sleep apnea, failure to thrive, or abnormal dentofacial growth; suspicion of malignant disease; and (for tonsillectomy) hemorrhagic tonsillitis. 3.Relative indications are adenotonsillar hyperplasia with upper airway obstruction, dysphagia, or speech impairment, and halitosis.
Now a days the inclination is not towards removal of tonsils. Its watchful waiting.

Drink plenty of fluids.If you are having trouble swallowing regular food, you can eat smooth foods, including flavored gelatin, soups.
Also put habit of warm saline gargles 2times a day.
