Tinnitus is usually related to deafness. If it is due to temporary/treatable deafness due to middle ear disease, then, the tinnitus is curable. If the tinnitus is due to Cochlear deafness, which is incurable, then obviously it cannot be cured.
Sometimes tinnitus is unrelated to deafness but is a conducted sound as in Glomus Tumours where the sounds of carotid pulsations are conducted by the invading tumour to the middle ear occicular chain, and perceived as Pulsatile Tinnitus. Another example is Tinnitus due to a tumour over the sheath of the Vestobulocochlear nerve called Vestibular Schwannoma or Acoustic Neuroma.
Timely removal of this tumours cures the tinnitus.
