I was diagnosed with DVT in left calf using colour Doppler one year back, after having some medication and compression stockings, I got relief in pain and swelling...I stopped regular medicine after sometime. Now again the pain and swelling has become sufficient to disrupt normal routine. I changed the doctor and he got my CT Angiography done.. seeing the reports he concluded that I have AVM since birth and recommend sclerotherapy...he said that no medicine can cure this...but I got relief from earlier medication...I am still confused whether I have DVT or AVM...can you please highlight the symptoms of both and help me identify what exactly is the problem...?
Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are defects in the blood vessels of the circulatory system. A malformation is an abnormal connection between the veins and arteries. This interferes with your body's ability to circulate blood. It's usually congenital, which means the condition is present at birth.
Both are completely different.
