Stitch dressing & removal

2016-05-21 12:12:22
I had an accident and got 3 stitches on my forehead. The doctor has suggested removal of stitches in 10 days. Is it possible to get the stitches removed before that as I have to travel next week? Also suggest when should I get the dressing changed.

Hello there......., The ideal time to remove sutures depends on the tension on the wound, the location of the sutures, and the type of sutures and the suture material used. Facial sutures are typically removed at 7 days.... Amount of skin tension, smoking, patient age, any underlying medical condition, infection, previous radiation all determine how long sutures stay in place.. Consult surgeon for further advice....
