Sore throat and dry cough..!!

A friend of mine is having severe Sore throat and dry cough from the last 7 days. And he is coughing like hell in every 5 mints.. So Wat advice should I give to him so that his problem gets solved. He has currently shown the a general physician doctor who gave him azithromicin and syrup named cofdex..!! Kindly advice..!!

He may be suffering from post viral cough which is a common type of post viral cough syndrome after an attack of viral upper respiratory tract infection. Usually it will resolve on its own within few days. He can use dry cough syrups, strepsils like lozenges and steam inhalation for symptomatic relief
