I have had several accidents and probably my foot s ligaments tore. But it was a very long time ago. Now and then when I walk a little more my feet start to swell.

You need to get it checked out by a orthopedician in person for further evaluation and management. .he will be able to help you further. Without examining we cannot say or do anything.
