I have report of three labs, and in all reports few lines mentioned below which says that deficiency of iron and
B12 associated with higher
HBA1C. So my question is i have already deficiency of B12
Healthian - Any condition that shortens erythrocyte survival or decrease mean erythrocyte age (e. g., recovery from acute blood loss, hemolytic anemia, HbSS, HbCC, and HbSC) will falsely lower HbA1c test results regardless of the assay method used. Iron deficiency anemia is associated with higher HbA1c.
Dr. Lal path- Inappropriately higher values of HbA1c may be caused due to iron deficiency,
vitamin B12 deficiency, alcohol intake, uremia, hyperbilirubinemia and large doses of aspirin.
