Regarding de-addiction

My aunt is 50 years old and has been smoking from 35+ years and she's a heavy smoker. She has become weak and says can't stand or walk for long time. So we wanted to join her to a deaddiction center.y question is that is it a good decision to proceed further at this age? Will quitting smoking have any ill effects on her health? We are really worried about it. Please advise. Thank you
