Hello I appreciate your concern for your husband It's dangerous to give this medication if patient is still taking alcohol, Kindly don't give this medication covertly. I would recommend that you motivate your husband for consultation so that motivation Enhancement Therapy is started and when he's motivated enough he'll definitely take medications.

Hi mam, alcohol de addiction is done in well planned manner and involves two stages.First phase is detoxification phase wherein we manage the withdrawal state and once withdrawal phase is subsided de addiction is initiated by adding an anticraving agent. This is the ideal way of managing alcohol de-addiction.Moreover,withdrawal phase is very sensitive phase and needs to be dealt gently with utmost care and supervision. The dose of benzodiazepines used in alcohol withdrawal is calculated according to the daily alcohol intake and then prescribed to the patients which is gradually tapered over period of time.Hence,I would advice you to kindly consider scheduling an appointment with the psychiatrist for the better management of the case
