Problem in backside of ear

I have some problem in the backside of my ear it has been 3-4 years ago I also visited to doctor he told to do operation of that part.but I don't want to do operation.please explain what is it and tell what is the other way of removing the problem.i also been eating medicines that are given by the doctor the medicines only softens that particular part but didn't make it vanish.please help me
