In pregnancy, when the baby grows the mothers blood also increases from 5 liters ( which is normal blood in every human being ) to about 6.5 liters..........among this increase the liquid part increases more than the solid ( RBC, WBC part )................as a result of this "dilution" the hemoglobin shows a fall in after 7 months of pregnancy.
Also at delivery about 500 ml blood gets lost on an average. The dilution prevents the usual "thicker" blood from getting lost and thus makes it tolerable for the mother.
So nature has a plan in making your blood diluted and help you during pregnancy.
It is for this reason that pregnanct women the world over are recommended to take iron tablets in pregnancy.
This is done to replenish your iron stores so that , in an event of low hemoglobin, the body has the requisite iron to make hemoglobin.
This is the work of the iron syrup dexorange that has been given to you.
Your Hemoglobin may appear 10.2, due to dilution. and if you speak to your doctor he/she may give you extra iron in form of injections to replenish your stores.
If you wish you can increase iron in your diet by taking.........spinach......beet......raisins......dried apricots.....anjeer.....and Jaggery......even buying a plain iron tava and saute any vegetable on it before eating will add iron to the vegetable.......this is the simplestw ay to gain iron......
