I am male and age 21. I had acute pancreatitis 2 years before. Doctors can't find the reason for the pancreatitis. I never drunk alcohol and no stone in GB. They given treatment and said complete regression from pancreatitis. But now one week before i again experienced pain in stomach and Dr said you have pancreatitis. They done scan and report shows GB sludge. Dr said we have to remove the GB. If there is no gall stone why we need to remove GB? Will it cause digestion problem in future.

Hi dear, causes of pancreatitis includes a big list , still 20-30% of the cases , the cause is unknown. Sludge pancreatitis is proven etiology for pancreatitis and the same was published in prestigious international journal - NEJM (Biliary sludge is an underestimated cause of acute idiopathic pancreatitis. (N Engl J Med 1992;326:589–93.). So its advisable to go ahead with laparoscopic removal of gall bladder.
