Use hot fomentation or hot showers to help with the pain. Do regular stretching to help with the stiffness. Whenever you start any activity you have to start slow and gradually increase the activity level. Sudden bursts of activity will only make things worse and give you aches and pains.
If things do not settle with hot fomentation it will be worthwhile to take painkillers for a short duration of time.
