Medicine for preventing parasites

We have pets (country chicks) at home with possible parasitic infection. Is there any medicine that we should be taking to prevent ourselves from getting the infection? I think I have diarrhoea (started today) and my sister (20 yrs) has mild stomach pain. (Also, I'm allergic to erythromycin and metrogyl group of drugs.) Thank you!
