Diastolic dysfunction means impaired relaxation of heart. If heart is not able to relax then it can’t accommodate the incoming blood from Lind and body veins leading to incomplete filling. If heart is not filled to its optimum then the resulting output is also not optimum means less blood will go in and out of heart.
This will result into accumulation of blood into lung and venous system like
liver. Leading to breathlessness with activity and abdominal fullness depending upon severity. Many times the diastolic dysfunction is clinically silent hence overlooked. But especially in females and elderly people this can lead to heart failure episodes.
Please see the cardiologist for further evaluation and management.
Hope this will help you.
