Hi Iam Thejeswar. Iam Medical and Hematooncologist. Common reasons for increase in Hb are chronic tobacco smoking, living in high altitude, PV. Look for the reason and get treated. MCV is indicator of small size of RBC, it can be seen in PV due to excessive consumption of iron for synthesis of RBC. PV patients usually have hyperviscosity symptoms. If u rule out other causes of high Hb then get tested for PV with certain mutations. Usually PV is not seen at young age.

No, the blood test results of increased total RBC count, low MCV, low RDW, and high MCHC are not typically seen in polycythemia vera (PV). But it could be some other condition which need further investigation including iron profile and peripheral blood smear . Please consider consulting before further investigation .
