I've been addicted to kratom for a year and a half. Want to get off. Can I go cold turkey or should I ween?

You can do either depends on how you're able to control the habit. It depends on what you're comfortable with and what is your selected choice to get through the addiction. If you find difficulty with it I would advise you to visit a psychiatrist to help with breaking the habit.
