Hi there....I can understand your concern.Whether to keep the rod in position or not will depend on whether the fracture is healed or not.So it will require xrays to review the condition,that is,to know whether the fracture is healed or not.So kindly consult the orthopedic who operated on you.They will examine you and then decide whether to remove the rod or not.
