Recently in the ultrasound scan, it has been mentioned as internal os as mildly patulous. Present pregnancy wk is 25.4 While cervix length is 3.7cm AFI is 12.6 cm. Need to know what are the options and if there are any chances of recovery through medications. This is the first pregnancy with no previous history of any abortions or miscarriages.

The length of the cervix is normal and rest of parameters are normal There are no high risk factors in her medical history.  However you need to be cautious. Hormonal supplements can prevent early onset labour and pains. You will also need to have serial scanning to see if the internal os is opening. Also avoid strenuous physical exercise .

Hi So using words mild patulous won’t serve any purpose if we don’t have measurements. So first get a measurement of internal os done. If it’s less than 1 cm dilated, then practically nothing needs to be done Your doctor may give you a progesterone support and / or uterine relaxant medications. 1-2 cm dilated then emergency circulate needs to be done. Take care
