Interactions with others

I feel tired and stressed after having a 15-20 min conversation with someone. Usually I am the listener and while the other person is talking, my whole attention is not on what they are saying but on how my body language or facial expressions are. I constantly keep thinking what to say next. As a result I avoid conversations at large because they after a point I get mild headache. How to change this?

You seem to be suffering from Social Anxiety. Don't suffer....you can be cured by a Psychologist in some sessions.

I see a huge fear/insecurity of being not accepted or by others, in you. There seems to be a high need for expressing your side & being appreciated for the same. This need has been putting you under constant pressure to say & do the right things. When you enter conversations with this pressure & fear you end up stressing yourself immensely hence the stress headache. I would want you to experiment a little with the listening part now. Every time you listen to another, decide in the beginning that you would just listen & not say anything. When your attention doesn't wander to what you are to say next, your consciousness about your own body language would also reduce to a great extent. This would make you stress free while you listen. You also have an urge to be heard. Locate people in your life, who might be ready to lend an ear to you for a change. Talk to them & express once in a while. If there aren't any who are willing to listen in your circle, please visit a professional so that you feel heard, valued & clear as well as confident about your views. Once you are heard & validated, you shall be alright. Take Care.

Maybe there could be  block in the unconscious of yours towards listening to others for some reason, which you wouldnt have given importance to. Introspect,  whether you  behave the same with all the people  or with selective ones. That would help you to identify the first point.

If you find it really disturbing get and feel some guidance is required do consult a Psychological Counsellor in the city you live in.
