It is important to feel your emotions so that you can know what you like and don't like in life. If you tend to escape from your emotions and distract yourself with anything like shopping, working, addictions, etc then please stop it and start feeling. It could be sadness, anger, disappointment, embarrassment, shame, guilt, fear etc. which you are trying to avoid.
Next Steps
Create a safe zone when you go about feeling your emotions. Write a personal diary, have some supportive friends or family members who are trustworthy to listen to you non judgementally. Cry if you need to.
