I had a blood test done and the SGPT level seems to be high, i.e. 40.2 Is it serious? What should be the course of action.

The normal range of values for ALT (SGPT) is from 7 to 56 units per liter of serum. Depends on what values they've given and the reference range used by the lab. High levels of SGOT and SGPT are suggestive of liver damage.
