Hematoma query

Hi Doctors, I fell down from the stairs and it resulted in swelling in the left hip. Got hematoma drainage from the radiologist and took the medicines. It was all ok after that but on the 5th day, I again started feeling the swelling and it is. The doctor says i need to get it aspirated again. My question is if I get it done again will it be completely drained? Got it checked from the surgeon and the doctor mentioned to take antibiotics and anti inflammatory medicine. Here to take advice if getting the cut would be the option? Or medicines can help?

Hello, generally all hematomas if painless and not discomforting to patient then should be left as it is...it will resolve over the period of time, then treatment of such collections is 3 attempts of aspiration atleast. Later on treatment part changes if it is collecting repeatedly

Hematoma once drained by incision and drainage that wound left open and packed by guaze pieces so that newly collected collection would come out..... If you get collection 2 nd time your surgeon can aspirate it via wide bore needle and can apply some compressive dressing along with antibiotics....

Size of the swelling?? Chances of recurrence of hematoma is quite common even after aspiration Better to get ultrasound of the swelling or gluteal region to quantify the hematoma If the hematoma is small medicatns are enough Large hematoma neede to be drained as it may get infected
Next Steps
