Gynecologist Appointment Concerns

I am 19, and my mother recently scheduled me for a second gynecology visit. I am now sexually active and would not like my parents to know. Will pap/std tests show up on insurance bills or any type of paper? If so, can I deny these tests at my gynecologist and have them taken somewhere I can pay out of pocket? Also, if I don't want my mother to accompany me in the exam room (even though she demands to be with me), will the doctor or nurse prevent her from entering?

Hello there. I can understand your concern. If you do not want your parents being in the exam room, then you are entitled your privacy. Pap smear and STD tests can be denied if you want. But pap smear doesn't show if a person is sexually active or not. Talk to your gynaecologist about it. Tell her that you want everything to be confidential and not disclosed to your parents. Also, being sexually active after 18 is fine. It's normal and it's your right. Best regards.
