There is very sparse data on the effects of antispychotic and mood stabilising medication, on the fetus.
It is generally advised to avoid Aripiprazole and clonazepam in pregnancy and while breastfeeding. There are no human studies to show whether they cause abnormalities in the baby, but animal studies have shown some concern regarding this. Moreover, if used in the last three months of pregnancy, they may cause the baby to be born sleepy, with need for intensive care, respiratory support etc, during the first few days of birth, till the effect of the medications wear off.
Please continue the Folic acid (5mg) daily and see your psychiatrist regarding the possibility of changing your medication to the more traditional and conventional mood stabilisers and antipsychotics. Psychotherapy, avoiding stress triggers and life style modification such as adequate sleep etc may also help to prevent relapse.
If it is not possible to change or stop the medications, and you have to conceive on them, there is still a reasonable chance that your baby will be normal, but you have to bear in mind that there is a risk of problems occurring from these medications.
