Hello There are two issues A.  Halos and stars could be due to dryness For that, avoid contact lens for some days, cold compresses and use lubricating eyedrop frequently B.  For retinal hole... Need for Laser depends on treating ophthalmologist.... Some holes need laser and others not

If you do have a retinal hole or break and your symptomatic for the same I would highly recommend undergoing a laser. This is different from the laser used to correct your refractive error. The dryness could be due to your chronic contact lens use. Stay off the lenses for the time being and use the lubricating drops as advised.
