At age of 59 yrs you might be having some amount of cataract ,visit  good ophthmologist & go for cataract surgery you will get rid of glass for ever, at this age  will not advise you to use contact lenses, if distance vision is absolutely normal & having no cataract, have only reading glasses use while reading, with age many things has to be compromised.

Your optician can advise which type is most suitable for your eyes and your prescription, you should remove it before going to sleep ,shouldn't wear more than certain period of time, should maintain them neatly .....consult ophthalmologist...
