Excessive burping after a stomach bug

On Wednesday I had what I think was just a general stomach bug. I was being sick and couldn't keep food down, I was burping a lot before I was actually sick. On Thursday I was not sick and was able to eat plain foods but was burping constantly all day. Every few seconds/minutes. It's now Friday, I feel a lot better but am still burping constantly. What's causing this and how can I stop it.
