Dog bite (stray dog)

I got bitten by a stray dog. I went to a clinic and got the vaccinations done. They cleaned the wound but they didn’t do any dressing on that. I even asked them, but they said that the wound should be left open so no infection remains inside. I am still skeptic about getting the bandaids on the wound or not.

Hi I assume that the wound (dog bite area) has been washed extensively for about 15 minutes with soap and water. This is necessary as Rabies virus gets killed in the process. Then, you have to apply povidine iodine, a virucidal agent over the washed wound and cover it up with a sterile bandage. This has to be done everyday. The wound should not be sutured. But dressing has to be done to prevent bacterial infections.
Next Steps
Apply povidine iodine over the injured site and apply a 'sterile' bandage subsequently.
