dementia with coexisting depression has to be ruled out .
May be his memory is affected which he is not able to communicate which might have made him more irritable
Or it could be only depression presenting with irritablity, poor concentration affecting his memory.
Have you noted him to be confused or hard of hearing or any recurrent urine infection or any h/ o alcohol use.
We have to r/o physical health issues as well
