I am having a slight discomfort and redness on my right eye from yesterday. I dont know the reason but I think I rubbed my eye the day before although I do very often.

you might be having allergic conjuntivitis. please do hot foamentation  and put antallergic eye drops 2to3 times daily e.g. olopatadine and rub ocupol d eye oint twice daily on lids.
