Im a 42 yr old healthy male aside from my current condition. I lost my hearing in my left ear due to head trauma at 17 yrs old. I developed Cochlear Hydrops about 2 yrs ago. Luckily for me I do not have any vertigo or balance problems. However, I do have tinnitus in both ears and some hearing loss in my only good ear. My question is why the tinnitus in my right ear? The hearing in that ear has been gone for over 20 yrs and never had tinnitus. Wondering why it would develop now?

Tinnitus in your right ear could be age related due to hearing loss or it commencement of cochlear hydrops in this ear too. You could use a hearing aid with tinnitus masker. In left ear it could be due to cochlear hydrops . In most of the cases it is difficult to find the cause of tinnitus... tinnitus it causes and treatment is still one of the most researched topic in Ent.
