Desvenlafaxine (Pristiq) for 70 year old

Dear doctor, Recently my mother who is 70 and diabetic was prescribed Pristiq 50 mg at bed time by her neurologist because of chronic insomnia. She visited a neurologist for her spine related issue where upon asking about her chronic poor sleep pattern she was prescribed a tablet which has Desvenlafaxine 50 mg + Clonazepam 0.5 mg for 3 months. I want to know if it's safe for her to take this medicine in terms of addiction and other side effects? Her EGFR is borderline i.e. 60 ml/min. Her Thyroid parameters are normal and also Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D3 levels are normal as she takes supplements.

You can also consider therapy to help with sleep related concerns. Kindly research on impact of CBT on insomnia due to chronic illnesses aswell. Basis her response to therapy, you can connect with her Psychiatrist for modifications to her medications.
