  4. Dark line on fingernail. I go from here?

I have had this dark line from cuticle to tip on my index finger for about a year now it has got darker and slightly broader.my gp dismissed it today telling me it's probably trauma and should go away on its own.I'm very worried as it could also be a sign of subungual melanoma where do I go from here?
