Hello, Im Dr Sandeep Jaglan, Pediatric Surgeon. Constipation in neonates can happen often, not of a worry mostly but with a caution. Rarely it may be an early presentation of a congenital intestinal disease. Can u answer a few of my questions for better understanding- 1) When did the baby pass his/her 1st stool after birth? 2) Does constipation associated with abdominal Distension? 3) Does constipation associated with Vomitings? 4) Baby taking mother's milk or any other milk?? 5) Have u had u use any enema/ Suppository for this condition??

Hi.. you have not mentioned how frequently he passes stool and child is passing hard stools or not. In newborns child passes stool every 7-8 days that's normal. So if child is taking feeds well and active then don't worry
