  4. Common cold. This medicine for baby?

My 2and half month old baby (Weight 5.14 kg) is having a common cold. The doctor has suggested Maxtra drops ( 10 drops three times a day) but after the first dose itself he's feeling so sleepy and drowsy. How many days I need to give this syrup and is this normal behaviour after taking this medicine for baby?

This drops contain CPM which causes drowsiness and sleepiness after consumption. Not to worry much. Once the running nose is subsided you can stop the medication. Dosage is 0.4ml twice a day.

This medicine does cause sleepiness The dose is correct for his weight (10 drop = 0.5 ml/ 3 times a day) You may give it only at night and through the day use saline nasal drops.

Give it for today. Tomorrow if you feel his cold is settled then you may stop
