Cerebral palsy

Respected Doctors, My sister has been suffering from cerebral palsy since she was seven years old. Thankfully, she can now speak, but she is unable to walk independently and experiences fear and difficulty when attempting to walk. She also suffers from sudden convulsions (seizures) that can occur at any time, sometimes accompanied by drooling from her mouth. We have consulted several doctors and explored different treatment options, but unfortunately, her condition has not improved as much as we had hoped. We also consulted an Ayurvedic doctor, who prescribed Manopushpi, Ginkgo Biloba + CMD drops, Cartfit, and Hibril capsules. However, due to our financial difficulties, we were unable to continue the treatment. With folded hands, I sincerely request your kind guidance. 🙏 Is there any safe and effective medicine or treatment that could help control her convulsions and excessive drooling and improve her quality of life. please suggest medicine.

I don't want you to struggle anymore in finding doctors Arrange an appointment with a neurologist as soon as possible, especially if she is experiencing recurrent seizures without effective treatment. My truthful answer to this is Would I prescribe an Ayurvedic medicine to stop the convulsions? No, not as a substitute for established anti-seizure treatment. I would not recommend any ayurvedic medicine. They are just supportive to calm down aggravated vatta. Seek emergency medical help if a seizure lasts five minutes or longer. I would not prescribe saliva-reducing herbal preparation for drooling without understanding her swallowing function and seizure history. There is insufficient reliable clinical evidence to recommend a particular Ayurvedic medicine as an established treatment for cerebral-palsy-related drooling
Next Steps
i would not recommend you to waste any more medicines on ayurvedic treatment right now. you need to visit a neurologist and after starting treatment you can just have supportive treatment that too in panchkarma. But if you don't have a budget don't waste it  just go directly to the neurologist and follow his instructions.
Health Tips
Please be cautious about ayurvedic medicine and treatment. They can just give supportive treatment in this case not required treatment so just visit the neurologist.

As you may already know, cerebral palsy is a condition that results from an injury or abnormal development of the brain during pregnancy, around the time of birth, or in early infancy. In some cases, early brain infections or other serious complications can also lead to cerebral palsy. Since this is an early-onset condition, the motor and functional difficulties may have developed and persisted over the years. The treatment approach should therefore be based on her present condition, the severity of her functional limitations, and any associated symptoms. If she experiences seizures, they need to be managed with appropriate medication under the supervision of a neurologist. We should also pay attention to her digestive health, nutritional status, and bowel movements, as reduced mobility can contribute to constipation and other digestive problems. If your sister has difficulty walking, she may also have muscle stiffness, abnormal muscle tone, or weakness. After a thorough assessment, Ayurvedic therapies such as Abhyanga (therapeutic oil massage) may be considered as supportive treatment, depending on her muscle tone and overall condition. However, these therapies should be carefully selected and performed under appropriate medical supervision. I would recommend consulting a hospital that has inpatient facilities and a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, so that her treatment can be planned comprehensively over the long term. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and appropriate medical management are also important in maintaining mobility, comfort, and quality of life. I sincerely hope your sister experiences improvement and receives the care that best suits her needs.

Hello. I completely understand your concern and the deep challenges your family is currently facing. Managing long-standing Cerebral Palsy with sudden convulsions (seizures) requires a very steady, compassionate, and highly sustainable approach. In Ayurveda, this condition involves a deep-rooted imbalance of the Vata Dosha affecting the nervous system (Majja Dhatu). While a complete cure at this stage might not be clinically possible, our primary goal should be to safely reduce the frequency of her seizures, control the excessive drooling, and improve her daily comfort. This can be supported long-term using very cost-effective, easily accessible Ayurvedic herbs and classical preparations that do not put a heavy financial burden on the family. Since she is experiencing active convulsions, any new medical step must be taken with absolute caution, prioritizing her immediate safety and stabilizing her nervous system above everything else.
Next Steps
1. Maintain a strict seizure diary: Start noting down the exact time, duration, and what happened right before each convulsion. This helps any attending doctor adjust medication doses accurately without needing expensive repeated tests. 2. Prioritize basic safety: Ensure she is never left alone near water, fire, open heights, or sharp objects. During a seizure, gently turn her to one side to prevent choking from drooling and keep her airway clear. 3. Keep previous medical files organized: Gather all past prescriptions, EEG, or MRI reports you already have. Having these ready will help any medical professional evaluate her brain's electrical activity immediately without ordering new, costly scans.
Health Tips
1. Never stop anti-seizure meds abruptly: If she is currently taking any modern anti-epileptic drugs, please do not stop them suddenly due to financial difficulties. Abrupt withdrawal can trigger severe, continuous, and life-threatening seizures (status epilepticus). 2. Dietary adjustments to calm Vata: Avoid giving her extremely cold, dry, stale, or gas-forming foods. Incorporate small amounts of easily digestible warm foods and a little cow's ghee in her diet, as this naturally helps ground hyperactive nerve energy. 3. Physical label verification: Before administering any previously bought local tonics, drops, or tablets, re-verify the expiry dates and exact compositions printed on the physical labels to avoid accidental toxicity.
