Can a diuretic cause pancreatitis?

I have had 3 episodes of severe upper abdominal pain in the past 4 months. For the first episode, I got admitted into a hospital and it was diagnosed as acute pancreatitis as the amylase and lipase levels were very high, and treated with Pain killers and IV fluids. I was discharged after a week and given pancreatic enzymes to be taken with food. For the next 2 episodes, I treated myself with minimal food intake and drugs given during the first episode. The last episode happened a week ago and the pain has not subsided completely. My doubts are: 1. Why I am getting these episodes so frequently, is this pancreatitis or can it be any thing else? 2. I am on Chlorthalidone 12.5 mg Once a day for hypertension for the past 1 year. Can this cause or worsen pancreatitis?
