Sometimes due to secondary infection it can show few signs of inflammation like pain etc. By the information given, high chances are there that it might be the same. However without looking at or examining, coming to a diagnosis is difficult.

Co suit a skin specialist or a surgeon, who might diagnose it and suggest the treatment, which will be a surgical Excision and antibiotics if it is an infected sebaceous cyst.
