Bone in thumb joint hit by cricket ball

At cricket, I caught a ball and afterwards the joint on the side of the thumb had a shooting pain and couldn't have pressure on the joint. The ball hit the bony bend in the thumb but wasn't thrown very fast.

We call this condition as mallet finger. Occurs due to injury to the tip of fingers.
Next Steps
Get xray of the hand to rule out fractures if no fractures then have to use thumb spica splint. Use pain killers and ice application
