Antibodies are specialised complex protein molecules that are produced in the blood by white blood cells ( B LYMPHOCYTES to be specific. They act against and are produced against microorganisms as a defence mechanism against infections. Sometimes they are produced against our own bodily substances. They are called auto antibodies, they destroy our own tissue and produce diseases called connective tissue disease. Systemic sclerosis is one such disease.
