Are there any side effects of AKI? I had it last year as a result of some painkillers that dint suit me (ortho recommended) and since then have gained a lot of weight which im not able to reduce, lethargic most of the day, puffy face, im on Rx for Thyroid and AKI induced HTN, no amount of diet control and exercises are helping me, totally frustrated to the extent that i feel like whacking others when they comment on my weight. All my blood reports are normal still terrible symptoms i have, I do have PCOS also, so combination of all the worst, can someone please guide..!!

Hi History of AKI per se won’t affect your weight gain. Weight gain could be due multiple factors including stress, thyroid issues and PCOD. As Dr Lakshmi has suggested you may seek help of endocrinologist and monitor renal functions at least once in 6 months

Aki can put u at a higher risk of ckd...so u need to keep checking ur rft and urine routine every 4 to 5 months. If these r normal,  then it's not the reason for ur weight gain. There are medicines u can take for pcod which will help with weight loss U can visit an endocrinologist who will evaluate u to see if there are any other treatable causes for ur weight gain
