Four and half year boy diagonised with chronic ITP SINCE OCTOBER 2015.Has bleeding some times.Recommended SPLENECTOMY.SHOULD WE GO AHEAD OR EXPLORE OTERE AVENUES IF ANY.RISK OF SPLENECTOMY?

Hello, splenectomy is not recommended before 5 years of age , child becomes vulnerable to infections .He should be vaccinated for pnumoccocal , h influenza and meningococcal vaccines before doing splenectomy and he may need to take antibiotics till adolescents to avoid infections
