At 5 months the baby would have started rolling over and it could be dangerous having him sleeping in the cloth cradle as there are chances of a fall while doing so . Babies tend to get habituated to the cloth cradle either because they feel very snug and also due to the gentle rocking action of the cradle
I would suggest that you should start getting the baby out of this habit .
You could have him Co sleep with you on the cot for some days till the cloth cradle habit is kicked off . Sleeping with you on the same bed may provide him the same security and the snugness that he gets in the cradle .
Another way to transition would be slightly rock him to sleep on your lap and while he is falling asleep gradually shift him out of lap on to the bed while lying down alongside him .
If you are living in a cold climate , ensure that the portion of the bed on which the baby is being placed is warm and cosy as the temperature difference between the lap and a cold bed will be sufficient to wake up the baby
You may also start keeping the cloth cradle hidden away from the baby so that he doesn't remember to insist on sleeping on it .
Don't take all the drastic actions together but do so one by one so that it doesn't suddenly stress out the baby
