During his postgraduate training in Medicine, he got first-hand experience of treating rheumatological diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Understanding the unmet needs of rheumatology in India, he developed a special interest in the subject. He did his DNB Rheumatology training at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Delhi. He was also keen on the application of musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK-USG) in the management of rheumatic diseases. Dr. Abhishek was trained in MSK-USG under stalwarts of the field; Post his DNB Rheumatology, he worked in the widely reputed CMC (Christian Medical College), Vellore.
