As everyone knows due some unavoidable and unforeseen circumstances on 24/03/2017 there was a Strike called by the Doctors as a protest Violence Against Doctor's (Physical or Verbal- Nowadays as is common), patient was told if at all there is emergency she would be attended and not otherwise on the phone itself. Now she had Viral Conjunctivitis which does not constitute any sort of ophthalmic Emergency, she was attended, given nearly half an hours time, explained in details the Causes, Treatment and most likely ways to Avoid spread of the infection. We had previously also told in regards to Viral Conjunctivitis, certain points which we would like to again put in front of the you Patients Name: Pooja Diagnosis:Viral Conjunctivitis (RE) Notes: 1.Viral Conjunctivitis per se does not have any Specific Treatment, except for HSV / HZV. Treatment is Symptomatic only- Lubricating Drops if Lot of FB sensation, Cold Compressions. Anti-biotics are prescribed only to Prevent Secondary Bacterial Infections and not for Viral Conjunctivitis. 2.Viral Conjunctivitis usually in Mild Cases Clears in 7-14 days. More Severe Cases usually takes 2-3 weeks to Clear. If Viral Keratitis occurs as a complication, it may take longer for Complete Visual Recovery 3.In Severe Cases of Viral Conjunctivitis there will be Lot of FB Sensation / Redness, Blood Spots, Blood Filled Tears, Member Formation on the Lower Lid. These are Normal Sequence of Events in the Disease Process. Will usually Clear in 2-3 weeks time. 4.Viral Conjunctivitis is Very Contiguous and Spread by Touch. 5.Personal Hygiene, As a preventive measure which is not 100%. 6.Review SOS if- Pain/ Decreased Vision. 7.In an unfortunate event of Viral Keratitis Occurring leading to Visual Disturbances, which is an Immune Reaction to the Viruses present in the Cornea. Treatment is usually not required. Its Self-limiting and Symptoms Clear in minimum of 2-3 weeks to Maximum of 2-3 months. In some cases it might persist even Longer. 8. There are no Preventive measures or medicines for Viral Conjunctivitis. Treatment: Moxisurge E/D 4 times per day (RE) for 10 days Now all this was not only mentioned in the Case sheet, but explained to the Patient in details. Now after giving her nearly 20-25 mins time, after which relative who had come with the patient (either her mother or mother in law) profusely thanked me for attending to her patient even when it was not an emergency and answering all the questions regarding not only about Viral Conjunctivitis but regarding the strike that was going. Now if the patient had any doubts or question which she did not ask at that point of time during the consultation but has mentioned now in her review, i am sorry to say that i do not have any Supernatural Power's to know whether Patient has any Questions for which i need to ask and reply. I sorry for the Lengthy reply and for anything i have said that has offend anyone, but i want to tell everyone that everyone should not expect INSTANT DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT AND RESULTS OF THE TREATMENT from the Healthcare System, and everyone should give time for Every Disease to follow its Natural Course.
