Chromosome analysis of bone marrow specimen may be useful in identifying various malignant hematologic disorders. An abnormal finding may be consistent with a neoplastic process, assisting in classification of the malignancy. For example: CML - chronic myelogenous leukemia; presence of Philadelphia chromosome; AML - translocation (8;21); lymphoma - translocation (8;14); APL - translocation (15;17). Chromosomal analysis will also assist in monitoring patients with bone marrow transplant or remission status, etc.
Also known as: Chromosome Analysis Pediatric Leukemia.
