Pregnancy Test Stick random Urine is a small testing instrument used to detect pregnancy. These testing kits/sticks usually work by measuring the amount of HCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) in the urine sample.
What is HCG?
HCG( Human chorionic gonadotropin) is a hormone produced by the placenta after the implantation of the embryo. The HCG hormone stimulates the secretion of progesterone and estrogen which support the placenta for maintaining the pregnancy. The increased levels of HCG in a woman is a sign of pregnancy. The HCG Levels increase during the first 8-10 weeks of pregnancy and decline gradually until delivery. The HCG levels can be measured from the urine sample with the help of the pregnancy testing kits/device.
How does it work?
The pregnancy testing kit contains a specialized enzyme which upon binding to the HCG in the urine produces a result. The test results depend upon the concentration of HCG present in the urine.

Understanding your test results
The test results may be different depending on age, health conditions, and other factors. The presence of two colored bands in the test strip confirms that the individual is pregnant. An individual is not pregnant of there is only a single line on the test strip. A person may have to repeat the test with a new device of no lines appear on the tet strip. Based on the test results, your doctor may advise you appropriate medical treatments, lifestyle modifications, or further diagnostic tests, etc.
