Includes photos. Johnson grass, although regarded as a warm-season grass, has adapted well to colder climates. It is also referred to as Sorghum grass, and in the U.S., it usually flowers from May to July or, in the extreme south, from December to January. Though Johnson grass is primarily a hay and pasture grass, humans eat the seed, raw or cooked.
