Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2004. Since then, he has worked in the departments of Medicine, Orthopaedics, Paediatric Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynaecology in various hospitals such as Changi General Hospital, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Singapore General Hospital. Dr Tan represented the Health Promotion Board on the Mediacorp Channel 8 live program Good Morning Singapore (6th May 2009) and Frontline (29th May 2009) during the H1N1 pandemic. The aim was to educate the public about the basics of proper hand washing technique, the proper way to wear a surgical mask, basic facts about the influenza virus and good health habits. He was a Senior Resident Physician in Geylang Polyclinic from 2010 to 2011. Besides running the general walk-in clinic, his responsibilities include running the Family Physician Clinic, giving Continual Medical Education talks and mentoring the medical officers. In addition, he was in the cardiovascular disease team whose goal was to improve the control of cardiovascular risk factors in the Geylang polyclinic patient population. He had also participated in improving the Clinical Quality Indicators with regards to asthma control. He completed the various aesthetic workshops and was awarded National Skin Centre Certificates of Competence in Botox, Derma fillers and chemical peels in 2012. While working with Parkway Shenton Executive Health Screeners at Arcade, Paragon and Parkway East Hospital in 2011 to 2015, Dr Tan was awarded the Parkway Shenton Service Champion Award based on feedback from patients. He is proficient in spoken Mandarin and Japanese.
